Private Land RFI

The Small Lots, Big Impacts Request for Information on Private Land is available now.

See below for a recording of our May 14th Proposers Conference. Our first Q/A response document is available now.

Overview

As part of the Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative, cityLAB-UCLA and Genesis LA are excited to launch a new Request for Information (RFI) focused on developing missing middle housing on privately owned land. This new offering expands the initiative to target the significant development opportunity that exists on private land in Los Angeles. Through favorable financing provided by Genesis LA’s Homeownership Innovation Fund, this part of the Small Lots, Big Impacts program is expected to support the construction of up to three demonstration projects.

Distinct from the forthcoming RFQ on public land, this RFI on private land will require teams to identify their own proposed sites and development approaches. Selected Development Teams will receive a robust financing package covering up to 95% of total development costs, including land acquisition, predevelopment, and construction.

Generating compelling ideas is essential to shifting the narrative about building more housing in Los Angeles, but built demonstration projects hold special power. The housing produced by the Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative will physically demonstrate how similar vacant lots, both publicly- and privately-owned, can be repurposed to expand homeownership across Los Angeles

Small Lots, Big Impacts is generously supported by BMO and LA4LA.

Funding for Genesis LA’s Small Lots, Big Impacts Homeownership Innovation Fund is generously provided by JPMorganChase.
