Development Team RFI

To spur the development of missing middle housing on privately owned land, cityLAB-UCLA and Genesis LA are excited to launch a new Request for Information (RFI). This new offering extends the direct impact of the Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative to target the significant development opportunity that exists on private land in Los Angeles. The RFI will require teams to identify their own privately-owned sites and development programs. Through the RFI, selected Development Teams will receive a robust financing package to support land acquisition, predevelopment, and construction. This RFI is distinct from the forthcoming Public Land Request for Qualifications (RFQ), which will include a set of approved publicly owned sites.

The projects produced by the Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative will physically demonstrate how similar vacant lots, both publicly- and privately-owned, can be repurposed to expand homeownership across Los Angeles

Small Lots, Big Impacts is generously supported by BMO and LA4LA.

The Request for Information will be released on April 22 at 6:00 PM at a public launch event hosted at the AIA-LA headquarters in West Adams. At this event, cityLAB-UCLA and Genesis LA will present details about this new private land opportunity. A recording of the presentation will be posted here after the event concludes.

Those interested can register for the event here.

Answers to outstanding Q/A questions from the event will also be posted here when available.

Summer 2025 Information Sessions

As catalogued in full on the Public Land RFQ page, cityLAB’s Summer Information Sessions included a suite of webinars and in-person events aimed at building the capacity of L.A.’s housing development community while helping interested Development Teams prepare for the forthcoming Small Lots, Big Impacts offerings. The resources below can act as helpful resources for those interested in building missing middle housing across Los Angeles.
